People considered ugly compared to classic beauty standards and have a profile on dating sites receive more messages and have more chances of having a relationship than those considered beautiful because it creates divided opinions, informs DailyMail.co.uk.

The finding belongs to the founders of the online platform OkCupid, who studies mathematics and, for over a decade, gathering information on how members dating sites interact with each other.

In a letter recently published on the OkCupid blog, the founders claimed that the attractiveness of a person depends on their unusual features that may divide opinion, the number of messages received is directly proportional to the level of indecision on the physical appearance of the person.

In a recent blog posting, OkCupid revealed how good looking someone is depending on how they divide opinion

Therefore, as a man’s opinion on the physical appearance of a woman known on a dating site was less consistent, so it was more likely to receive messages from it.

“The woman who received fewer messages was usually considered attractive without any discussion, while the women receiving more messages is caused by differences of opinion among men”, reads the company’s blog.

However, Hannah Fry, who is one of the founders of the site, said in a video posted on the blog Head Squeeze that attractive people have lower scores and that tend to intimidate the opposite sex.

Hannah Fry gave the example of Holly Willoughby, a British top model, and actress Sarah Jessica Parker. While Holly Willoughby is most often described as a beautiful woman, actress Sarah Jessica Parker has earned over time various reactions.

While Holly Willoughby (left) is often described as beautiful, Sarah Jessica Parker (right) tends to get a varied response. In the online dating world, this would mean that Sarah Jessica Parker would receive more messages.

‘A lot of people – i.e. most of the internet – thinks she looks like a horse,’ says Ms. Fry.

However, according to Hannah Fry, Sarah Jessica Parker would receive more messages because men think it is an attractive woman will receive a higher grade than a woman who is considered a classic beauty.
